The history of Washington is very interesting.  People have lived in Washington for 10,000 years. Washington became a state on November ,11 1889. Washington was named after George Washington. Many Native Americans tribes were in Washington including Yakima, Chinook, Nez Perce. Europeans explores came by sea in the 1700. They spent little time in Washington. Lewis and Clark were  the first Americans to explore the area, they arrived in Washington in 1805.
